Without an interactive tutorial to guide you through the subtle differences between the Princeton and Flex offenses, it can take a bit of practice before you figure out which way the ball should rotate and how best to attack. There are a number of unique motion sets to work out of, and these give you a smooth, free-flowing take on the sport, with lots of screens and quick passes to keep defenses off balance. The offensive structure in college basketball is a little more fluid than in the NBA, and this slight difference is captured well in the play calling for NCAA Basketball. Despite a lack of modes and a strong feeling of deja vu, this is a well-made and exciting basketball game for those who love the collegiate experience. Unlike Live, you cannot take control of your favorite player in pick-up games with friends, so you're limited to the standard five-on-five action. Furthermore, NCAA is a little stripped down in comparison. Although this is largely a good thing, considering that Live is a fun and accurate representation of the real sport, NCAA feels a little too familiar for those who have already shown off their skills on the virtual court. The teams are obviously different, and the players are represented by numbers rather than their birth names, but the on-court action is nearly identical. This imitation is fully realized in NCAA Basketball 10, which plays almost exactly like NBA Live 10. It makes sense that they would strive to mirror their high-profile brethren, given that the NBA has a much larger following, has more recognizable stars, and just loves giving out massive guaranteed contracts. We all know what's been going on with the NCAA pay debate and many think that's been keeping it from happening.College basketball players frequently try to emulate the professional stars. ![]() The bad thing is that if a company developing these games aren't around anymore or don't have the rights to the game anymore there's not much that can happen. The good thing is that for a game to backwards compatible it takes hardly any work from the developer, their game just get ported by microsoft if it can work well and doesn't have too many technical problems. MS has stated that they will continue this with series x and some popular games will be upscaled to 4K with the potential for 120FPS and HDR. Some games that are very popular get special treatment including a higher resolution and some minor upgrades (Go on youtube and search Morrowind Xbox one x enhancement, the game literally came out in 2004 on the original xbox but you can play it upscaled and at a stable resolution). A lot of xbox 360 games are still being played till this day because they work natively on xbox one and you can play multiplayer with others who are on xbox 360 servers as if you're on an xbox 360 yourself. ![]() It's the same game for the most part yet it just works on the newest consoles. Well in essence when a game becomes backwards compatible, it essentially gets turned into a version that is playable for the current console (right now that is the xbox one but when the series x comes out it will be that). ![]()
